Banco BBM and the Jardim Botânico Research Institute of Rio de Janeiro have developed a technical cooperation program with the prime aim of making an inventory of the species cultivated in the Arboretum and unifying information in a single database, permitting the monitoring and management of the different collections, as well as the preparation of various fully up-to-date instruments for publicizing this important scientific heritage.

In 2012, BBM Group sponsored the book "Sertões Adentro - Viagens nas Caatingas, séculos XVI a XIX" (Venturing into the Sertões), which is the result of the authors’ research in over 40 institutions in the Americas and in Europe.The book contains beautiful illustrations and texts that produce knowledge of various aspects of the Brazilian Sertões.
